If you're an expat, a future expat, or the spouse of an expat in Paris, learning French is an exciting way to fully immerse yourself in French culture, enhance your experience, and comfortably navigate everyday life. At novexpat, we offer flexible, high-quality French lessons for all levels—either in person or online, individually or in small groups. Our courses are designed to help you quickly and effectively engage in meaningful conversations, whether in daily situations, business environments, or social settings, so you can communicate naturally and confidently in every aspect of your life in Paris.
We understand that financing your language course can be an important consideration. Read on to discover the different financing options available to help make your French learning journey with us more affordable.
Flexible Payment Options
To ease your budget, we offer a payment plan that lets you spread the cost of our French courses over 2 or 3 installments, available for both private and small group sessions.
At the start of your course, you'll pay an initial 30% of the total cost. The remaining payments will be invoiced as your course progresses, based on a schedule agreed upon when you sign the contract.
This flexibility enables you to enjoy high-quality French classes while keeping your finances in check.
Share Your French Course
Our FrenchUp Courses can be adapted for multiple participants, reducing the cost per person. This way, everyone can benefit from FrenchUp at an affordable rate while enjoying the motivation and enhanced conversation practice that comes with group learning.
There are a few prerequisites: all participants must know each other (friends, family, colleagues, or association members), have similar French proficiency, and be available at the same times. Additionally, all participants share collective responsibility for the total course cost, even if someone drops out or misses a session.
Billing is straightforward: one invoice will be sent to a designated member of your group, who will handle payment for everyone. While this setup requires a bit of coordination, it offers effective, motivating lessons at a budget-friendly price per person.
Compte Personnel de Formation (CPF)
If you're employed in France, a job seeker, self-employed, or an eligible student, you may be able to use your French Compte Personnel de Formation (CPF) to fund some of our French courses.
The CPF is a state-backed initiative that credits your account with up to 500€ (or 24 hours of training if you're a civil servant) if you've worked full-time. You can accumulate up to 5,000€ in CPF credits, which can be used for eligible courses, including our FrenchUp or FrenchBooster programs. CPF credits can also be combined with most other funding options listed here. To get started, follow this step-by-step tutorial on using your CPF.
To access your CPF, you'll need to create a French digital identity (identité numérique). This process is simple, free, and quick, but it may take longer if you're not a French national. We recommend starting early. Visit this page for further guidance.
If you don't have enough CPF credits, your employer may agree to co-fund your French course, especially if French proficiency is required in your role. Speak with your HR representative to discuss your goals before submitting your training request to us. If approved, your company can supplement your CPF credits to help cover the French course cost.
Please note that CPF funding eligibility requires you to take the DCL FLE, an official French proficiency exam that certifies your skills. This certification can enhance your resume and even support a citizenship application.
Company Training Plan and OPCO Funding
If you work for a French company with fewer than 50 employees, your French language course may be partially or fully funded by the industry-specific Opérateur de Compétences (OPCO).
To take advantage of this opportunity, collaborate with us to develop your training plan, and seek support from your HR representative or manager. We will provide all the necessary documents: a professional training agreement, a detailed course program, a provisional schedule, and a quote. These will need to be submitted to the relevant OPCO for their funding decision.
If funding is approved, we will invoice your company at the start of the training and provide the necessary documents for OPCO reimbursement. Keep in mind that processing times can be lengthy, so it's best to apply for our courses at least two months in advance to ensure a smooth process.
For larger companies, French language courses might be included in the so-called Plan de Développement des Compétences (formerly known as Plan de Formation). In that case, your employer could cover the cost of your course. Speak with your HR representative or manager to learn more and discuss your training needs.
Self-Employed Funding with the French FAF
If you're self-employed—whether you're a professional, business owner, artist, author, or craftsman—and you've contributed to the CFP (contribution à la formation professionnelle), you may be eligible for assistance to cover your French courses through a Fonds d'Assurance Formation (FAF).
To apply, contact the FAF that matches your activity type (based on your NAF or APE code). Each FAF has different levels of support and procedures, but rest assured, we will assist you with the necessary training documents. For a successful application, consider registering for our courses at least two months in advance.

The Expat Compensation & Benefits Package
If you're an expat or the spouse of an expat, your relocation package might already include a set number of French lessons. The exact number of hours depends on your company's international mobility policy and the agreements you've made.
If you're the spouse of an expat, it's entirely reasonable to request financial support for French lessons as part of your relocation to France. We've seen this happen many times, and we encourage you to make the request. Many companies understand that the successful adaptation of the entire family is essential to the expat's overall success. So don't be shy and ask for it!
Companies see language training as a key part of helping you adapt quickly to your new surroundings. It's a way for them to ensure you're comfortable, settled, and thriving in your new life.
To get the most out of this benefit, it's crucial to select a language school that meets your expectations and provides top-quality French lessons. That's where we come in: our French courses are designed specifically with expats and their families in mind, helping you transition smoothly and make the most of your Paris experience. Don't hesitate to challenge the current company's provider and introduce us as the best alternative.
