A mini-group, not a typical group class

FrenchUp Duo & Trio are not traditional French group lessons. You get the intimacy and personalization of a private class, with the added energy of two or three learners:

  • your teacher still adapts content and pace to your needs, just like in 1-on-1
  • each learner gets plenty of speaking time and personal feedback
  • activities are dynamic and interactive, while keeping the feel of a private course

And being 2 or 3 also means enjoying the undeniable advantages of learning together:

  • Shared motivation
    Peer support keeps you consistent.

  • Peer learning
Learn not just from the teacher, but also from your partner's questions and breakthroughs.

  • Rich practice
    Multi-person dialogues and role-plays mirror real-life conversations.

  • A shared adventure
Celebrate progress, doubts, and successes together.

  • Smart investment
Split the cost without losing any Novexpat quality.

A training budget you can share

Sharing lessons also means sharing costs, simply and transparently.

Choosing the right learning partner

Spouse, colleague, friend. Whoever you choose, the key is knowing each other well. Why? Because learning French together also means sharing your successes, mistakes, and moments of hesitation.

  • You should feel comfortable learning in front of each other: making mistakes, trying, being corrected.

  • You need the same level of commitment: motivation, consistency, regular practice.

  • Your objectives should be compatible: daily life, professional integration, family, naturalization.

We also require that:

  • participants are at a close stage in their learning

  • availability is aligned (same days and times)

  • and there is no hierarchical link (learning works best when everyone feels free to speak).

FAQ

Your questions answered

Can I take French lessons with my partner, colleague, or friend?

Yes! That's exactly what FrenchUp Duo & Trio are for. You can learn French together with someone at a close French level (within one CEFR level difference), following the same program and pace. It's a great option for couples, colleagues, or friends living in Paris.

How are semi-private lessons different from regular group classes?

FrenchUp Duo & Trio are mini-groups of 2 or 3 learners only. Unlike standard group classes with 8–12 people, you still enjoy plenty of speaking time, personalized feedback, and a program adapted to your goals – just like in a 1-on-1 course, but shared.

Do we need to have the same French level?

Yes, participants should have comparable French levels (within one CEFR level difference) so that everyone progresses smoothly. During your consultation, we'll assess your French to make sure it's a good match.

What if one of us misses a lesson?

No problem. All lesson notes, exercises, and resources are available on Neo, our online platform, so you can catch up even if you miss a class.

What happens if one of us decides to stop?

Semi-private courses are a team commitment. All learners need to continue together. That's part of what keeps motivation strong – you move forward as a pair (or trio).

However, if one of you needs to stop, we'll evaluate the best option together. Depending on your situation, it may be possible to continue the program as a 1-on-1 FrenchUp course or to adjust the remaining hours accordingly.

Where can we take lessons?

Anywhere in Paris, in nearby suburbs, or online. At your home, your office, or even your favorite café – whatever works best for you.

Do semi-private students get access to Neo and Slack?

Yes! Just like in our 1-on-1 courses, you'll use Neo to access lesson content and practice resources, and our Slack community to connect with teachers and other learners.

I would like to join with a friend/colleague/spouse. How do we proceed?

Great! Start by applying through the form on this page. We'll then schedule a consultation to assess your levels and discuss your goals. If everything looks good, we'll help you finalize the details and get started.

How long does it take to start after the interview?

We usually recommend allowing at least 7 days between your admission interview and the first lesson, so we have time to prepare your personalized program and coordinate with your teacher. If your course is funded through Mon Compte Formation, please allow a minimum of 11 working days between your application and the start of your training, as required by the platform's processing timeline.
